Introduced in 1929 as Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Soda, the formula for 7UP has changed numerous times over the years. For example, in the late 1940s, lithium citrate, a mood-stabilizing drug, was removed. They adjusted some ingredients in the mid-2000s so that they could call it “100% natural,” which ended up being “100% natural flavors,” following criticism due to their use of high fructose corn syrup.
