Vernors is a ginger soda that was created by Detroit pharmacist James Vernor in 1866. I couldn’t find Canada Dry Vanilla Cream on the company’s website or even on the Dr Pepper Snapple Group website (though I did manage to find it on a separate product facts site run by Dr Pepper Snapple Group), so I’m not sure how common it is. Crush Orange, the flavor that the brand is known for, was invented in 1906 by J.M. Thompson and the Orange Crush Company was created in 1916. Sun Drop was created in 1949 and launched regionally in 1951. The citrus soda went national in 2011. In this episode, I taste the sugar version available in glass bottles, complete with pulp from the orange juice used to flavor it.
