Pepsi first attempted a Mountain Dew flavor variant in 1988 with Mountain Dew Red, a fruit flavored Dew that saw only a brief test release. Pepsi didn’t try again until Code Red (Dew “with a rush of cherry flavor”) in 2001 and it was a success, which is why they have continued to produce it.

I like code red however the carb count is too high for me @ 46
When code red first came out in 2001 a diet code red followed about six months later
Only available in 12pack cans. It was a dud. There went my diet code red.

I try to limit carbs to about 60 a day
