New Britain, Connecticut-based Avery’s Beverages allows guests to make their own soda. The Totally Gross Soda line is inspired by the names that kids would give the sodas that they created. Fresca Original Citrus is a grapefruit flavored zero calorie soda. Fresca was a favorite of President Lyndon B. Johnson. Ohio schoolteacher Frank Stewart opened his Stewart’s Root Beer stand in 1924. Stewart’s was only available at root beer stands and drive-in theaters until 1990, when Cable Car Beverage Corporation acquired the bottling rights and began producing 12 ounce bottles of the soda.
