Pepsi Throwback was released in 2009, alongside Mountain Dew Throwback, as a sugar sweetened version of Pepsi. This led many to recall the days when the drink did not include high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). The mainstream version of Pepsi available today is sweetened with both HFCS and sugar. John Noel Nichols created Vimto in 1908. It features a mix of carbonated water and sugar with fruit juices like grapes, raspberries and blackcurrants. When iVolkswagen requested it, it was described as a mixed fruit soda. Before Coca-Cola and other companies were able to produce products that were kosher, there was Dr. Brown’s Cel-Ray soda. For this reason, the brand is well known within the Jewish community and now offers several different flavors. On today’s Soda Tasting, we are taking a look at their Black Cherry flavor. In the United States, Pepsi has begun releasing a glass bottle version of the drink, sweetened only with sugar. Though it may taste the same, it is distinctive from Pepsi Throwback in branding and in the fact it comes in a glass bottle, which Throwback does not. Rocket Fizz’s The Wizard of Oz Cherry Cola features artwork that was used for covers of vinyl records from Little Golden Records, which specialized in children’s music. Their releases were distributed by Simon and Schuster, who also published the Little Golden Books series of children’s books at the time.
